W. H. D. (William Henry Dethlef) Koerner

W. H. D. Koerner (1878–1938) was a German-born American illustrator active in the early 20th century, known for his artwork in popular magazines and Western-themed subjects. He is especially remembered for his painting "A Charge to Keep," later associated with author Owen Wister-era Western fiction illustration.
