Published in a series of articles in 1911 in Flight magazine, this series on "A study of bird flight" was written by Ernest Hanbury Hankin (February 4, 1865 â March 29, 1939). Hankin was a bacteriologist in India, who may have stumbled on bacteriophages in the Ganges river which appeared to keep cholera under check.
