Maturin M. (Maturin Murray) Ballou

Maturin M. Ballou (1820–1895) was a 19th-century American author, editor, and publisher who helped pioneer inexpensive popular fiction. He is best known as a founder of *The Boston Globe* and an early editor of story papers and magazines.
