Davenport Adams (William Henry Davenport Adams) was a 19th-century English author and journalist known for his prolific output of nonfiction, biographies, and educational and popular works, including many books for young readers. He is often credited with an early formulation of the maxim that great writers imitate while lesser ones steal.
