W. M. Flinders (William Matthew Flinders) Petrie

W. M. Flinders Petrie (1853–1942) was a British Egyptologist and archaeologist active in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. He is known for pioneering systematic excavation methods and for his extensive scholarly writings on ancient Egyptian archaeology.
