Samuel Butler

Samuel Butler (1835–1902) was an English author of the Victorian era, best known for the satirical utopian novel *Erewhon* and the semi-autobiographical novel *The Way of All Flesh*. He also wrote critical works challenging Darwinian evolution and translated Homer's *Iliad* and *Odyssey* into prose.
