S. V. (Sofia Vasilevna) Kovalevskaia

Sofia Vasilevna Kovalevskaia was a nineteenth-century Russian mathematician and writer, noted as one of the first women to earn a doctorate in mathematics and to hold a university professorship. She is remembered for the Cauchy-Kovalevskaya theorem and for her memoirs and fiction.
